Cosmelan/Dermamelan – depigmentation therapy

Cosmelan is one of the fastest and most effective ways to permanently eradicate skin discolouration caused by hormones. The treatment is non-invasive and painless; just one round is enough to achieve great results. This method restores the skin’s uniform colour, adds smoothness and brings out a natural glow.

Indications:

  • Sun or hormonal spots on the face, neck, upper chest;
  • Discolouration on the hands,
  • Visible pores.

How to prepare for the procedure:

  • A dermatological consultation is required to assess the hyperpigmentation type and skin phototype.
  • The treatment does not require anesthesia.
  • A few days before the procedure, the patient should avoid using scrubs or creams and balms containing retinol or fruit acids.

Procedure description and effects:

  • It is a one-off procedure however, it is split into two phases. Phase one takes place in a doctor’s practice where a mask is applied onto the face, upper chest or hands. The second phase takes place at home and takes about 2-3 months, during which the patient applies Cosmelan 2 cream received during the procedure.
  • The treatment should not be stopped or spread over a period longer than prescribed.
  • The treatment is ideal for discolourations of various origin, most commonly in melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The effect of brightening and the disappearance of the marks will be visible on the 8th day of application. Patients with lighter complexion may notice the effects later.
  • After a few months the procedure can be repeated — Cosmelan works by temporarily inhibiting hyperpigmentation, after the treatment the discolourations may become active again.

After the procedure:

  • Patients can return to their daily activities after 4-5 days.
  • Exposure to the sun should be avoided throughout the entire therapy.
